Mango Growers Take Flight! - Using the mistakes of others to raise some money!

Using the internet as a marketing tool is not always an exact science. Sometimes it requires some experimentation to figure out exactly how to make SEO work or how to ensure higher CTR and so on. On occasion using the fact that your name sounds much like anothers can work to your advantage in the online world.

This morning I wanted to find an airfare for Mango Airlines. I typed in mango.co.za and would you believe, I arrived at the South African Mango Growers' Association and not Mango Airlines!

I am sure that I am not the first to have done this - something which the designers of the site have obviously noticed. So instead of just expressing frustration at all their misdirected visitors, they have decided to be pro-active and use this to their advantage.

They signed up with Traffic Synergy - an affiliate marketing company and placed a large ad on their home page for TravelStart which allows one to search for low-cost fares in South Africa. The Mango Growers Association will receive R80 for each booking made from this site.

People like myself who were actually wanting Mango Airlines are obviously looking for cheap flights and may well be tempted to click on the banner and discover more.

Well done to the Mango Growers Association and their web team for this initiative.
